Dalkeith Renovation | Cased Study
Foodie Heaven
Case Study: Foodie Heaven
Project Overview:
The project, "Foodie Heaven", is a kitchen renovation and extension located in Dalkeith, WA for Mr. and Mrs. T. The clients, who are passionate foodies, requested a practical and functional kitchen that also had a modern and sleek look. The designer and Director of Elementi Concept, Giovanni Giannace, was commissioned for the project with the aim of creating a space that was both beautiful and functional.
Design and Execution:
The designer took into consideration the clients' large family when working on the layout and materials for the kitchen. The intent of the kitchen concept was to use natural materials such as wood, ceramic, and stainless steel to suit everyday use. The design of the main kitchen focused on aesthetical details, while the scullery featured a stainless steel benchtop and professional appliances for excellent practical use. A working pantry with a pocket door system was equipped with all small appliances to ensure maximum functionality without making the kitchen appear cluttered. A seamless door was designed to access the scullery and Pandomo resin floor was selected to contrast the wooden dining floor to add an interesting touch to the overall design.
Challenges and Solutions:
One of the challenges faced during the project was the existing and not removable post. The designer cleverly incorporated it into the design as a feature, adding louver panels for an organic look and hiding the ziptap water unit. Another challenge was to create a meaningful link between the main kitchen and the scullery. The designer achieved this by detailing the main kitchen doors with carved lines, in the same dimension as the louver panel.
Outcome:
The completed project was a stunning and highly functional kitchen that impressed the judges of the HIA Renovated Kitchen of the Year 2019, resulting in the project winning the award. The designer and Director of Elementi Concept, Giovanni Giannace, successfully achieved the clients' brief with the use of natural materials, practicality, and attention to detail. The use of wood, ceramic, and stainless steel contributed to a modern and sleek look that was both beautiful and functional. The inclusion of a working pantry, pocket door system, and professional appliances in the scullery, as well as the seamless design of the scullery access, demonstrated the designer's understanding of the clients' needs as passionate foodies. The use of Pandomo resin flooring to contrast the wooden dining floor added an interesting and unique touch to the overall design.
